Re: intentional community
Tue, February 7, 2006 - 12:43 PMNamaste, good to hear the wise words of Roy making their way around the tribe...
Saundra, it sounds like you have some vision and think you know what steps to take first...
I live in costa rica and am starting a sustainable place to live and then if the system of rediculus abundance continutes long enough, we shall have a healing center like the one you invision... But first we must take care of the root chakra level of things to make sure we have a good foundation to create higher things from... And these steps have included, disintangling ourselves from our lives in the addictive US world and spending enough good time on some land to see weather we can actually live here... Then there was immediate needs, like shelter and organic food... If you are not buying organic, you are buying chemicales that are probabaly harmful... So we are now just to here... focusing on infastructure, food, water, and learning how we want to govern ourselves... These steps take more time and energy than you might think...
We are also trying to do community outreach to the Ticos in the area, so we dont just become like the rest of the Gringos who only see Locales as cheep labor... They are the Community... We dont import community... And this has been one of the most suprising Joys... Ticos are simple and amazing people...
I hope you can come and visit us as we discover who we are, you are invited to see if you vibe with our similar vision at HOME...

Re: intentional community
Fri, October 14, 2005 - 11:29 AMSandra, you've got a nice idea and most the professions that you mention would be very useful to a community, but you are starting your cake by putting on the iceing! Forst you need a solid basis for an IC, the food production, the energy supply, the roads, the governance - Then you think about forming your cooperative business.
A group such as you speak of would be welcome as part of Gaiasana, a well planed non-profit type project up in the cool hills of Puriscal. -

Re: intentional community
Mon, March 6, 2006 - 12:37 PMHello Sandra,
I am curently developing a project such as you described, I am a business developer and have been working on the planning and funding aspect for the last 2 years.
On April 19th I will be heading down to start a survey trip over 6 weeks where we will be traveling through areas of interest and laying the groundwork for a land purchase.
Please contact me via email and we can discuss further.
Currently I am in New Orleans with a non profit disaster relief organization that I founded after Katrina. I personally got tired of waiting around for relief to happen down here so I took the last 6 months off of the Costa Rica project to do something about it.

Re: intentional community
Mon, March 6, 2006 - 7:12 PMI'm doing something very similar. At least I've started the project and keep beliving when the time is right -- those who should show up...will. I am a spiritual psychologist and would love to network with folks in the other modalities you've mentioned. My site is www.junglehealing.com and I live in Paraiso de Cartago.
cheers,
Scott

Re: intentional community
Mon, May 29, 2006 - 11:00 AMHello Sandra,
I am a developer in Costa Rica and agree that your idea will be well received here. One area that you might want to look is in the Nosara area. It is already well known in many of the healing arts circles through the Nosara Yoga Institute and has a thriving culture similar to what I think you're looking to acheive. It is also unlike a lot of other beach communites as much of the jungle here is permanently preserved as green space and caters to a more tranquil clientele than other areas. If you have any questions feel free to give me a shout. jimboberry2@gmail.com
