Hello,
My wife and I are going to buy a place in Costa Rica (Playa del Coco) soon. I need to start a corporation to buy the condo through it. Does anyone have any info on what to do to set this up?
Thanks

Fri, February 29, 2008 - 8:13 AMSince my post I have been down to Costa Rica. I purchased a horizontes unit with Mapache in El Penon del Sol near Ocotal. I have a lawyer in Coco who is going to be doing my corporation. It is actually a very simple process and costs around $800. My unit should be finished sometime around the end of the year I think.

Re: Starting a corporation
Sun, May 11, 2008 - 9:15 PMHello Robin:
I bought 2 condos in Playa Coco through Playas de las Palmas development. I initially thought that I could form a corporation in the U.S. so I did in Nevada. When I wanted to transfer the condos to this corporation, I found out that I had to have a Costa Rican Corporation formed. So I went to see a lawyer on site in Comercio del Pueblito. His name is Jose Manuel Arias. He has an office right in the commercial center of Playas, near the Playas de las Palmas development. The cost is about $550.00 to start up a Costa Rican Corporation. You do not have to have a name for the Corp. The Govt will assign a # for the Corp. You will get Corp books and all the necessary things needed. The Costa Rican Corp eventually became a subsidiary of the U.S. Corp.
You can find any lawyer in Playa Coco that will perform this deed for about $550. I bought in Garza Real a 2 bedroom condo and a studio in Marina Loft.
