Investing?

topic posted Sun, December 5, 2004 - 11:34 AM by  Scottica
Hello,
I would like a little more information on what this tribe and it's members are looking for out of Costa Rica.
I am about to undertake a very unique project in Costa rica and am looking for VERY like minded people to work with.
So before I launch into what the project is about I would like to learn about the members here to see if it will fit.

regards.

It would seem that the better investments in Costa Rica should center around helping the environment, starting intentional communities and tourism. If it can do all three at the same time then it's close to guaranteed!

Of course, I say this then have to tell you that I've just started a startling new business for Costa Rica that really has little to do with the above. I'm in production of a delightful, white, demi-sec wine that involves no grapes. It is to be sold locally and exported to the US, with expressions of interest from a wine distributer in Holland! No, I need no investment for this as it is completely subscribed to.

What I do have is a projected intentional community for the lower middle class with space for over 100 families, privately owned lots & homes, all needed energy produced in the community plus much of the food (organic). An investor could be under a limited partnership, you put up your money, take your earnings and leave. Or an investor could continue with the project as it goes on operating and starting up further ICs. Total start-up needed: $2,500,000. Business plan in process.

I am thinking of starting a small specialty brewing biz in CR and know that liquor production was recently decentralized. (Yes, that could make me somewhat of a competitor)...What requirements are needed for brewing low alcoholic beverages for public sale?

Not much action around here but I found this post just now and am interested in hearing about your project.

I am a Permaculture Designer very much interested in international living. I wrote a paper (investors prosectus) for a Eco-developement project in Panama a couple years ago.

My partner has, in the last year, purchased two beach front lots. One for 80k and other for 100k. He sold the 80k lot for 150 last month. He has some offers on the other lot. Currently we are looking at a farm near tamarindo. It's around 2-3 million to purchase, we are in the process of raising money. If property values continue to rise as they are now. We should be able to sell this property for 5-6 mil in a couple of years.

A friend of mine just completed the building of a 20 unit hotel near Jaco beach on the Pacific side of Costa Rica. Yes, already real heady offers have been made to him on this property. His website is docelunas.com. He also began a start-up business, setting a local woman up to manufacture swimwear and bikinis.

          hey all
Sorry it has taken me so long to check back in here.
I am currently in New Orleans helping with the disaster relief and then rebuild so I have put the project on the backburner.
